Local University of Hartford Students Spent Spring Break Helping with Tornado Recovery Efforts in Alabama
30 University of Hartford students spent their spring break helping the people of Tuscaloosa, Ala. rebuild their community after last year's deadly tornado. The following local students took part in the trip, referred to as alternative spring break because the students chose to do community service rather than take a vacation:

Area Residents Win $5,000 Grant from Newman's Own Foundation
The University of Hartford's Society of Women Engineers won a $5,000 grant from Newman's Own Foundation and was presented a check during the America East Basketball Tournament at the University on Friday, March 2. The chapter received an honorable mention in the third annual Newman's Own Foundation Campus Community Service Challenge.
